Dual Fates Faction Codex

Deep within the towering peaks of Barak-Dum, the Dwarven Forge has carved an empire of stone, steel, and fire. The Dwarves are master miners, smiths, engineers, and builders whose mountain halls descend far beneath the surface of Ashura. Their bond with the earth runs deeper than simple craftsmanship; they feel the stone. Newly found Geomancers learn to channel the power of stone itself; Clerics protect the miners and the people, while Rock Elementals and other creatures of the mountains have become part of everyday Dwarven life.
Proud, stubborn, and fiercely loyal, the Dwarves are slow to abandon anything they have claimed—whether it is a mountain stronghold or a patch of ground on the battlefield. Their warriors favor heavy armor and overwhelming force, trusting in Dwarven steel, stone, and sheer determination to withstand the enemy before striking back with devastating power.
The Dwarven Forge does not yield. It endures.

The Dwarven Forge
The Dwarven Forge represents a faction built on durability, battlefield control, craftsmanship, and overwhelming force. Unlike factions that rely on speed, numbers, or evasive tactics, the Dwarven Forge excels at establishing a position and making the enemy work extremely hard to take it away from them.
The Dwarves are not particularly fast, but they don't need to be. Heavy armor, powerful weapons, master-crafted equipment, and their command over stone and forgecraft allow them to steadily advance across the battlefield and turn important positions into fortified strongholds.
Once the Dwarven Forge establishes control of an area, removing them is often much harder than stopping them from getting there in the first place.
The Dwarven Forge — Core Units
-
Dwarven Warriors: The backbone of the Forge. These heavily equipped fighters are designed to advance onto important positions and hold them. Their combination of armor, weapons, and close-range durability makes them dependable frontline combatants.
-
Forge Fighters: Aggressive melee warriors who bring the offensive side of Dwarven craftsmanship to the battlefield. Where other Dwarves concentrate on simply surviving an engagement, these fighters are built to punish enemies foolish enough to fight the Forge at close range.
-
Geomancer: A wielder of the Dwarves' connection to stone and earth. Rather than relying entirely on conventional weapons, the Geomancer manipulates the battlefield itself, using stone and earth magic to protect allies, disrupt enemies, and reinforce the Dwarven battle line.
-
Rock Golem: A magically animated construct built to endure punishment that would destroy ordinary warriors. Its ability to repair its damaged body makes it extremely difficult to remove, while its control abilities allow it to interfere with enemy movement and protect important areas of the battlefield.
-
Forge Masters and Specialists: The Dwarven Forge contains more than frontline warriors. Engineers, craftsmen, and specialists bring equipment and battlefield support that can reinforce the faction's already considerable defenses and help nearby allies remain in the fight.
Core Faction Mechanics
-
Durability and Armor: The Dwarven Forge is designed to absorb punishment. Many Dwarven units rely on Armor and strong defensive statistics rather than Dodge. They may be easier to reach than highly mobile factions, but actually removing them is another matter entirely.
-
Hold the Line: Dwarven units excel when fighting over important areas of the battlefield. Their combination of durability, battlefield control, and short-range power makes them particularly effective at capturing a position and forcing the opponent to commit significant resources to take it back.
-
Forgecraft and Earth Magic: Dwarven strength does not come exclusively from muscle and steel. Engineers, magical constructs, specialized equipment, and Geomancy allow the Forge to repair damage, reinforce allies, manipulate terrain, and interfere with enemy plans.
-
Slow, Deliberate Advancement: The Dwarven Forge generally does not win by racing across the battlefield. Instead, it advances methodically from position to position. Every piece of ground gained becomes another place from which the Dwarves can establish control.
Strengths
-
Exceptional Durability: Armor, defensive abilities, repairs, and reinforcement effects make Dwarven units difficult to remove once established.
-
Excellent Objective Control: The Forge is particularly effective at taking and defending Pillars and other strategically important positions.
-
Powerful Close-Range Combat: Getting close to a Dwarf does not necessarily solve the problem. Many members of the faction are at their most dangerous once the fighting becomes personal.
-
Strong Battlefield Support: Engineers, Geomancers, constructs, and other specialists allow the Dwarves to reinforce their battle line rather than relying entirely on direct attacks.
-
Reliable Game Plan: The Forge rewards deliberate positioning and coordinated advancement rather than depending heavily on risky high-mobility plays.
Weaknesses
-
Low Mobility: Dwarves are generally slower than many opposing factions. Poor deployment or positioning can leave them struggling to reach where they are needed.
-
Limited Dodge: Heavy armor and sturdy bodies are excellent for absorbing attacks, but they do little to help a Dwarf get out of the way. Attacks that circumvent or punish Armor can be particularly dangerous.
-
Position Dependent: The Dwarven Forge is strongest once it has established its battle line. Enemies that force the Dwarves to constantly reposition can disrupt their greatest advantage.
-
Vulnerable to Being Outmaneuvered: Fast opponents do not necessarily need to defeat the Dwarves head-on. A clever enemy can sometimes bypass the strongest part of the Forge's formation and attack objectives or vulnerable support units elsewhere.
The Dwarven Forge Playstyle
Playing the Dwarven Forge is about deciding where the battle is going to happen—and making sure the opponent regrets fighting you there.
They are not a faction built around chasing enemies across the battlefield. Instead, the Dwarves advance, establish control, reinforce their position, and challenge the enemy to remove them.
Other factions may be faster.
Other factions may be more numerous.
Other factions may possess stranger magic.
But when the smoke clears and the question becomes who is still standing on the Pillar, the Dwarven Forge intends for the answer to be:
The Dwarves.
