The New MidKnight Heroes Site Is Live — And Dual Fates: Ashura Is Here!

Well... we finally did it.
The new MidKnight Heroes website is live, and with it comes something we have been working toward for a very long time: the new version of Dual Fates.
Welcome to Dual Fates – Ashura or V3
There are still a few little things around the site that we want to tweak, clean up, and improve, but the important part is done. The site is up, it works, and everything you need to start playing Dual Fates – Ashura is there right now.
And we mean everything.
Dual Fates – Ashura

With Ashura, we wanted to take what we loved about Dual Fates and make the game easier to learn, faster to play, and easier for us to expand without constantly messing with the core of the game.
So we simplified the rules.
That doesn't mean we wanted to make Dual Fates less tactical or strip away what made it fun. Quite the opposite. We wanted fewer things getting between you and the decisions you make on the tabletop.
One of the biggest additions to Ashura is subfactions. This gives us a lot more room to explore different parts of our factions, their stories, and different styles of play without having to create an entirely new faction every time we have a cool idea.
And trust us... we have a lot of cool ideas.
Most importantly, the Dual Fates – Ashura rules and faction codexes are 100% FREE.
You don't need to buy a rulebook just to try the game. You don't need to buy a codex to see what your army can do. The rules and codex information you need to play are available right on the website.
There is also a printer-friendly version of the rules available to download.
We do eventually want to offer a nice full-color printed rulebook for those of you who, like us, still enjoy having an actual book sitting beside the gaming table. That is in the works, but we're being completely upfront about it: it's pretty low on the priority list right now.
Everything you need to play is already available online, so we'd rather put our time and resources into new miniatures, factions, characters, and expanding the game.
Where Are the Factions?
Right now, the factions ready for Dual Fates – Ashura are:
Dwarven Forge
Undead Court
Dichu
Mage Guild
The Sea Spring Pirates are right behind them. They are literally one Summoning Totem away from being 100% complete.
Once the Pirates are finished, our attention will turn toward Wyrmborn and The Wayward Coin.
And there is plenty more coming after that.
Ashura Is Here to Stay
This is also something we want to make very clear.
We didn't spend all this time rebuilding Dual Fates just so we could turn around and make everybody learn another version next year.
Dual Fates – Ashura is planned to remain the official version of Dual Fates for at least the next 3–4 years, and hopefully much longer.
We aren't planning any changes to the core rules anytime soon.
Individual units may occasionally get adjusted as we get more games played and more feedback. An ability might need tweaking. A unit might need a balance adjustment. That's part of keeping a game healthy.
But the core rules aren't going anywhere.
You can learn Ashura, build your force, and play without worrying that we're going to pull the rug out from under you six months from now.
A New Focus for MidKnight Heroes
The new website also marks a bit of a change in direction for us.
For now, we're putting our focus firmly on the fantasy side of MidKnight Heroes and on the miniature lines we're most excited about developing.
That means you're going to see a lot more from:
Super Chibi and Dual Fates
MidKnight Nights
Manapath
For the foreseeable future, Sector 7 has been retired indefinitely.
S.E.E.D. will return. We haven't abandoned it. We simply have only so much time, equipment, and tiny plastic insanity to throw around, and right now we want to concentrate on fantasy and give these lines the attention they deserve.
Trying to do everything at once usually means doing nothing as well as you could.
So we're focusing.
And Yes... Those ReaperCon Minis Are Coming
If you saw us at ReaperCon and spotted some new miniatures that aren't in the store yet, don't worry.
They're coming.
The new miniatures we showed at ReaperCon will begin making their way onto the store very soon, so keep checking back. We've got quite a bit waiting in the wings.
One Last Thing
The new site is completely usable now, but we're still going through it and fixing little things as we find them.
If you run into a bug, a broken link, something that looks weird, or something that just doesn't work the way you think it should, please tell us. There's a lot on this site, and you folks are going to find things we missed.
And finally, we want to say something that probably doesn't get said enough.
Thank you.
Seriously.
Whether you've bought our miniatures, played Dual Fates, stopped by our booth at a convention, painted one of our models, shared one of our posts, given us feedback, or simply followed along to see what crazy thing we're making next — thank you.
From the bottom of our hearts.
MidKnight Heroes couldn't keep doing this without the people who support us. We're a small company making the things we love, and every order, comment, painted miniature, game played, and person who stops by to say hello means more to us than you probably realize.
This new site and Dual Fates – Ashura feel like the beginning of the next chapter for MidKnight Heroes.
We've got a lot planned.
And we're really glad you're here for it.
Welcome to Dual Fates – Ashura.
